The holidays can be a mix of emotions—joy, stress, nostalgia, and everything in between. No matter how you feel, this is your reminder that you deserve kindness, especially from yourself. Let’s explore how a small shift in intention can make a big difference this December.

As the season of giving is upon us, we hear familiar carols:
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”
“You better not pout, you better not cry…”
“’Tis the season to be jolly…”

But let’s be honest—not everyone feels the glow of joy for the holidays, and that’s okay. Maybe you’re lighting the yule log and sipping eggnog, or perhaps you’re just trying to make it through the day. Both are valid.

If joy feels distant, I invite you to pause and ask yourself: What could make today a little better?

Imagine I had a magic wand to grant you your heart’s desire. What would you wish for? And more importantly, what gift do you want to give yourself? Often, our first instinct is met with doubt or guilt. Let’s change that.

Instead of resolutions for the new year that often fizzle out, what if you set intentions instead? Intentions are like heartfelt promises infused with energy. They align your mind, body, and soul, sending a resonant “YES” throughout your being.

Here’s a simple idea:

  • Add 5% more intention to your actions.
  • Greet someone with 5% more joy.
  • Speak with 5% more warmth.
